The Other Side of the Ball!!!

I came across this in one of the email forwards... Its worth reading ..

In life, a lesson learned in your past that you will never forget completely. When I was in elementary school, I got into a major argument with a boy in my class. I have forgotten what the argument was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson learned that day.

I was convinced that "I" was right and "he" was wrong - and he was just as convinced that "I" was wrong and "he" was right.

The teacher decided to teach us a very important lesson. She brought us up to the front of the class and placed him on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large, round object. I could clearly see that it was black. She asked the boy what color the object was. "White," he answered.

I couldn't believe he said the object was white, when it was obviously black! Another argument started between my classmate and me, this time about the color of the object.

The teacher told me to go stand where the boy was standing and told him to come stand where I had been. We changed places, and now she asked me what the color of the object was. I had to answer, "White." It was an object with two differently colored sides, and from his viewpoint it was white. Only from my side was it black.

My teacher taught me a very important lesson learned that day: You must stand in the other person's shoes and look at the situation through their eyes in order to truly understand their perspective .

BEING IN TWENTIES - SOMETHING

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing thatthere are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two,but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friendsthat you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people youhave ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the mostimportant ones. *What you don't recognize is that they are realizing thattoo, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are asconfused as you. ***You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought youwould be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that youare going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.
Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and findyourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you havecertain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to yourlist of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure andthen the next, secure.
You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone andscared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling onto the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is driftingfurther and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you areor move forward.
*You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do suchdamage to you*. Or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyonedecent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someonebut love someone else too and cannot figure out why you're doing thisbecause you know that you aren't a bad person. One night stands and randomhook ups start to look cheap. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot startsto look pathetic. *You go through the same emotions and questions over andover, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannotseem to make a decision*. You worry about loans, money, the future andmaking a life for yourself... and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

BAD NEWS

At dawn the telephone rings.

"Hello, Master Carlos? This is Arnaldo your country house caretaker"
"Ah yes, Mr.Arnaldo. What can I do for you? Is there a problem?"
"Um, I am just calling to advise you, sir, that your parrot died"
"My parrot? Dead? The one that won the competition?"
"That's the one."
"Darn! That's such a pity! I spent a small fortune on that bird. Oh
well...what did he die from?"
"From eating rotten meat."
"Rotten meat? Who was so mean as to give him meat?"
"Nobody. He ate the meat of one of the dead horses."
"Dead horse? What dead horse Mr.Arnaldo?"
"Why, those pure breed ones that you had, sir. They died from all that
work pulling the water cart."
"Are you insane? What water cart?"
"The one we used to put out the fire."
"Good Lord! What fire are you talking about, man?"
"The one at your house!
A candle fell and then the curtain caught on fire."
"What the.....!!!But there’s electricity at the house!!!! What was the candle for???"
"For the funeral."
"WHAT BLOODY FUNERAL???!!!!!"
"Your mother's! She showed up one night out of the blue and I thought she was a thief, so I shot her."

RSS - My first impressions

Well today by chance i went to gurupujamahotsav and also a milan kind of event conducted by RSS to unite IT related people in RSS and also explain what RSS is to the newbies. After the event i realized that all the impression i had on RSS earlier was purely a misconception. Earlier i used to think that RSS is an organization which acts as a protector of Hindu's just like any other religious organizations, but its way beyond the reality.
I was surprised to see many intellectuals including people from IT holding respectable positions in various MNCS are volunteering the event in the typical RSS uniform. Later i was spell bound seeing a hindu muslim couple taking their seats in the meeting. I was really unable to figure out whats happening. Why on earth a muslim married woman is attending a RSS meeting!!!.
Later the event started and one of the senior associate of RSS has delivered a speech on the idealogies of RSS since its inception. This is the time my eyes started to open.
RSS which i earlier thought to be a pro hindu anti muslim organization is basically an organization which is evolved to bring up a sense of responsibility and patriotism among the citizens inorder to support and give a helping hand in eradicating the social meladies like untouchability, caste feelings, poverty and many more.
Its an organization which believes that the good taught by the hindu mythology must be practised to the betterment of the society.
Later i realized that the puja which is being done is not for any idol or any swamiji but for a saffron flag which symbolizes the idealogies of the RSS. They feel human is bound by limitations but not the idiologies. The following is a small paragraph in the pamphlet given by them during the event which gives us a glimpse of their ideology

"God gives us everything; let us also learn to give something.
Sun gives us light, air gives us fresh life and earth provides us food.
Let us also learn to do something that will benefit others.
The trees give us shade in the scorching Sun.
The beautiful maala gives us the fragrance of the flowers.
Let us learn to sacrifice for others like the benevolent tree.
Let us educate the uneducated.
Let us give voice to the oppressed.
Let us give a helping hand to those who have fallen back and spread the message of compassion and equality.
Let us light the lamps of efforts and illuminate the world".

Its basically whoever bounds their head towards the flag will strive for the betterment of the society and work for the upliftment of the backward and help the needy. Helping the unemployed by finding them jobs is also a part of the social service done by the organization.
After the event, i felt one must not come to conclusions unless he has a clear understanding on what he is concluding upon. From now though i may not be a hard core Rashtriya Swayam Sevak or not even a volunteer, i would atleast encourage one to join RSS if he has true inclinations towards social service regardless of any religion.

Life

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983.
From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed:
"Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?
To this Arthur Ashe replied:
"The world over -- 50 million children start playing tennis,
5 million learn to play tennis,
500,000 learn professional tennis,
50,000 come to the circuit,
5000 reach the grand slam,
50 reach Wimbledon,
4 to semi final,
2 to the finals,
When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD 'Why me?'.
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD 'Why me?' "

"Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrow keeps you Human,
Failure keeps you humble and Success keeps you glowing, but only Faith & Attitude Keeps you going...

A Very Gud Idea

Recently i have come across a very good networking site called onefamily. Its not the usual friend making networking site, but its connects u to ur relatives. It maintains ur family tree and as the users increases day by day there are chances that u may find ur very distant relatives u never met or ur pals who are actually related to u.
As every human must be a relative to the other at somepoint or the other in the mega human family tree,i personally wish that the extented family tree will trace out in what way im related of my pals...

DONOT COPY & PASTE!!!

A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience.

He said: "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!"

The audience was in silence and shock.

The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"

Laughter and applause continued!

A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home.

He was a bit foggy after a drink.

He said loudly, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"

The wife went wan with shock and rage.

Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out "... and I can't remember who she was!"

Moral of the story:
Don't copy if you can't paste!

Old Monkey Story With A Twist

It's an old story that we read in Class 3 but with a new ending. I trust you will like it.

A haryanavi jaat hat-seller who was passing by a forest decided to take a nap under one of the trees, so he left his whole basket of hats by the side. A few hours later, he woke up andrealized that all his hats were gone.
He looked up and to his surprise, the tree was full of monkeys and they had taken all his hats. The jaat sits down and thinks of how he can get the hats down.
While thinking he started to scratch his head. The next moment, the monkeys were doing the same. Next, hetook down his own hat, the monkeys did exactly the same. An idea came to him, he took his hat and threw it on the floor and the monkeys did that too. So he finally managed to get all his hats back.
Fifty years later, his grandson, Sukhwinder, also became a hat-seller and had heard this monkey story from his grandfather. One day, just like his grandfather, he passed by the same forest. It was very hot, and he took a nap under the same tree and left the hats on the floor.
He woke up and realized that all his hats were taken by the monkeys on the tree. He remembered his grand father's words, started scratching his head and the monkeys followed. He took down his hat and fanned himself and again the monkeys followed. Now, very convinced of his grandfather's idea, Sukhwinder threw his hat on the floor but to his surprise, the monkeys still held on to all the hats.

Then one monkey climbed down the tree, grabbed the hat on the floor, gave him a slap and said........................

Guess What????????
